Christmas 2008

my parents with Riley

Is Christmas really over?!! It went by so fast!! Santa brought Riley a TON of stuff. It was so exciting to be with our baby girl for her very first Christmas. What a blessing!

For Christmas Eve, Riley and I went over to the McKinley house for brunch (Tony's cousins). The house was filled with people and everyone was kind enough to help in watching Riley so I could actually eat! All you mommas know what that is like! Tony had to work and then went hunting so he couldn't make it. We always have such a fun time at the McKinley's, great food and great family!

Then, my FAVORITE, the three of us went to my mom and dad's for Christmas Eve for dinner. Christmas Eve is my favorite. When I was little, my grandfather was just like a kid and couldn't wait to open presents, so because of him, we always did all of our stuff on Christmas Eve! We've continued the tradition even with him passing, and we had a wonderful time!! We also play "dirty Santa" every year, except no one wants to be "dirty" and steal other's presents! They did do a little better this year, though. The funniest part of the game was when my dad (picture my quiet and reserved dad) opened up a rubber, squishy "boob." hahahahah....it was hilarious! But that's not the best part. The best part was when my sister in law, Marcie, (whose still breastfeeding her 20 month old and is having trouble weaning her) said "I need that for Jocelyn!" We laughed until we cried on that one!

Christmas morning, we went to Penny and Steve's for more family fun. Penny fixed omelettes and we all exchanged gifts. Riley racked up again, of course! Riley is so blessed to have this huge family! They love her so much and take good care of her. Riley has yet to say, "Aunt Sis," but it won't be long now! She's still playing with the plastic purse that Aunt Sis got her as of this morning. Then, Jane watched Riley for us for the rest of the day. I couldn't ask for better in-laws!! We tried to go see the movie Marley & Me, not once, but TWICE, and it was either sold out or packed so tight that we would've had to sit in the very front row and not enjoy it. Needless to say, we didn't get to go, but we're going to try again this weekend. And finally, we had Christmas dinner at Jane and Ken's house. I don't even have to tell you the food was good - Jane cooked it!!
