Weekend Getaway

Tony, Riley, Maize, and I headed out this weekend for a getaway to a cabin in Franklin County. It was sort of like a bed and breakfast. The setting was beautiful with trees all around the property, not a neighbor in sight. We "checked in" on Friday afternoon, got our bags unpacked, and enjoyed the living room area with huge windows looking out among the trees and a floor to ceiling stone fireplace. It had a hot tub and an all around porch. There was even a pack n play already set up in our room when we got there, which also included our very own private bathroom and thermostat. Before dinner, we were served appetizers with crackers, a variety of cheeses, and chicken dip. For dinner, we had chicken piccata and s'mores for dessert...mmm, delicious. The next morning, Tony went out hunting. Breakfast was served soon after I awoke with ham biscuits and fresh fruit. Almost as soon as breakfast was over, lunch was ready. Lunch was homemade vegetable soup and rolls...perfect for a chilly day. I worked on the computer some and took a nap. Dinner appetizers consisted of mini pizza rolls, cheese and salsa dip, tortilla chips, and nacho cheese doritos. Shortly after, dinner was served. Dinner was once again delicious with pork chops, mashed potatoes/gravy, green beans, corn pudding, and baked apples. Lucky for me, a recording of Grey's Anatomy was on the TiVo, so I relaxed on the couch and watched my favorite show. Then, finally, our last morning, breakfast was once again served. We had pumpkin bread, fresh fruit, pancakes with several types of syrup, and hot, crispy bacon slices.

AND IT WAS ALL FREE!!!!!!!! The cabin is the home of Tony's aunt and uncle. Wow!! What a fabulous weekend! We felt like we were on vacation. Thank you, Buddy and Sue, for your wonderful hospitality and allowing us to absolutely enjoy your beautiful, cozy cabin.
